What does his success show about chanticleer's character?

In The Nun's Priest Chanticleer succeeds in escaping from the Fox's mouth after using the same technique that the Fox used to capture him (flattery). Chanticleer does this by making the Fox taunt his pursuers and once he does this and opens his mouth Chanticleer escapes. Chanticleer's success shows that he has learnt his lesson to be wary of those who use flattery to get what they want.
