Inherited traits are the ones which have passed on from the parents to the children and can go on passing to the coming future generations as well. Traits are the physical characteristics expressed when specific allele of specific gene is present.

For instance -

Mother is tall and has allele (TT) and father is also tall but his genotype is (Tt)

"t" is the allele for short height.

When the above two parents mate, following offspring are produced

TT *Tt

TT, TT, Tt, Tt

Out of four two are homozygous tall children and two are heterozygous tall children.

Thus the traits of being tall is said to be inherited from parents
