ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) starts out having three phosphate groups, adenine (nitrogen base) and ribose (sugar molecule). ATP is a cycle to help organisms get energy. Afterward, ATP goes to ADP (adenosine triphosphate) when making energy. This is because it loses a phosphate group.
