The American Indians provided the Jamestown colonists with food. when the colonists first arrived they ran into trouble with disease and starvation. The Indians helped them succeed and survive. They trade with the Indians for food by using English goods. The conflict between the Powhatan and the colonists was caused by colonists killing a Powhatan leader, Opecancanough sought out revenge on the colonists. he killed about 350 men,women and children.one of them was John Rolfe.the colonists want land from the j Dian's.
