  • Michaelangelo Buonarroti and Raphael of Urbino represent one of the most famous rivalries between the painters of the Renaissance (1300-1600).
  • To be more specific, Michaelangelo, well known for his grumpiness, felt envy and anger for Raphael: not only they both worked in the Vatican in the 1500's but Raphael was younger and more acclaimed and accepted by the public, specially by Pope Leo X. Furthermore, Raphael's artworks clearly showed Michaelangelo's influence, so much so that he later accused him of plagiarism.
