What problems faced secretary of treasury alexander hamilton when he first took office?

Upon taking office Alexander Hamilton faced opposition of his ideas on government. These ideas included a vision of a strong executive branch, strong military, and, above all, his dream of a national bank. Opposition came from Jefferson, who wanted a completely different government, small and more agrarian.
