Thousands of amendments to the Constitution have been proposed. Why do you think only 27 formal amendments have been added to the Constitution

The nitpicking over certain types would never be done. Like with the prohibition. It was a failed test. But you couldn't change it without adding a amendment. It is not necessary to have thousands just for important topics
