Monarchy was the most common form of government until the 19th century. Monarchy is a form of government in which a single family rules from generation to generation. The power, or sovereignty, is personified in a single individual.

A monarchy is when there is one ruler or king over the land, much like a monotheistic religion where they believe in one God. England is an example of a monarchy. Christianity is an example of monotheistic religion, while Hellenism is not.
