First, one thing you MUST know about "parallel equations" is that they have SIMILAR SLOPES, which in this case is 1, so that means your new equation HAS TO HAVE a slope of 1 also. Here's how you would do that:

2 = 1[3] + b [Set your equation equal to the given "y" value, then plug in your "x" value afterward to find your y-intercept ("b").]

2 = 3 + b; -1 = b

NEW EQUATION → y = x - 1
