The Articles of Confederation acted as America's first government but was more known for its weaknesses than strengths. Three of the many weaknesses would include that it has no power to levy taxes on imports, there was no executive branch, and new laws passed required 9 out of 13 of the stated to agree. Successes of the articles were that it did well in the organization and sales of western land and the articles set up the legislative branch, the Congress.
