the area of a rectangle is just the product of its width by its length.

so in this case we have both, but firstly, lets convert the mixed fractions to improper fractions, and then multiply them.

\bf \stackrel{mixed}{5(7)/(9)}\implies \cfrac{5\cdot 9+7}{9}\implies \stackrel{improper}{\cfrac{52}{9}} ~\hfill \stackrel{mixed}{3(1)/(5)}\implies \cfrac{3\cdot 5+1}{5}\implies \stackrel{improper}{\cfrac{16}{5}} \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ \cfrac{52}{9}\cdot \cfrac{16}{5}\implies \cfrac{832}{45}\implies 18(22)/(45)
