2(4x-3)-8=4+2x

distribute 2 through the parenthesis

8x-6-8=4+2x

calculate the difference

8x-14=4_2x

move variable to the left side and change its sign

8x-2x-14=4 ----> 8x-2x=4+14

collect the like terms

6x=4+14 ----> 6x=18

divide both sides of the equation by 6

x=3
