Answer:

In the story "The Cask of Amontillado," the author Edgar Allan Poe uses the first person narrative from Montresor's point of view, who is the person taking revenge and committing a crime against Fortunato. In the account, he describes in detail how he carries out the murder.

Had Poe told the story from Fortunato's point of view, the reader would be shocked by the victim's horrific emotions as he suffers a slow, terrible death. In fact, he is chained and buried alive by immurement.

Point of view has an important impact on the book “The Cask of Amontillado” because the point of view determines the way we read the story. The story would be different because Montresor doesn't give us the whole story. If Fortunato told the story we would be able to see his point of view.
