4x+1=13
2x+y=8x-2y

4x+1=13 (subtract 1 from both sides of the equation)
4x=12 (now divide by 4 both sides of the equation)
x=12/4=3

2x+y=8x-2y same as
y+2y=8x-2x
3y=6x

when x=3, then 3y=6x is
3y=6×3
3y=18 (divide by 3 both sides of the equation)
y=18/3

y=6

answer: y=6
