Are radar guns, used by police to catch speeding cars,work with ultraviolet rays?

No, it uses microwaves/radio waves and the microwaves that reflect off a car. Because the car is moving, the frequency of the reflected waves is different from the frequency of the original waves. The difference in frequency is used to calculate the cars speed. This is called the Doppler effect.
