The bacterial cell is devoid of mitochondria.

Prokaryotes refer to the single-celled species like archaea and bacteria. These species are devoid of any nucleus and rather exhibits the genetic material in free-floating state inside the cell.

These species also lacks the membrane-bound organelles, which are found in eukaryotes, and as mitochondria is a double-membrane bound organelle, thus, mitochondria will not be present in a bacterial cell.
