The Declaration of Independence was created to declare their independence from Britain. The colonies were not happy with the laws ,taxes and restrictions Britain was placing on them and so this is how the American Revolution started. It declared their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Basically stating they had a right to own their own land, to be free and not have to live under a monarchy. Hope this helps!
