The settlements between the Colorado and Brazos river as well as the other settlements in Texas were Hispanic and welcomed Anglo-Americans to occupy them.

Spain invited foreigners who were Catholic and wanted to become Spanish citizens and offered them big portions of land. This with the idea of increasing economic development and help defeat the aggressive Indians like Kiowas and the Comanches.

Anglo-Americans found attractive the idea of moving to Texas thanks to the low prices in land.
