A pack of gum costs 75cents. That is 3cents less than three times what the pack cost 20 years ago . Which equation could be used to find the cost of the gum 20 years ago

3x-3=75, add 3 to both sides and get 3x=78. You divide 78 by 3 and get x=26. So a pack of gum 20 yrs ago cost 26 cents.
