Given equation is :
x^(2)-4=0

Solving it we get,

x^(2)=4

√(x)=√(4) and
√(x)=-√(4)

This gives
x=2 and
x=-2 or we can say the roots are
(x+2)(x-2)

Here Stefan is right, the root has a multiplicity of 1.
