Answer: Reformers called for the regulation of the railroad industry because in late 1800s they all feared the massive growth of certain industries and the monopolization of those. The Interstate Commerce Act of 1887 was a federal law that was passed in response to the reformers´ complaints, although it didn´t have much effect.
