Answer:

2 1/8 ft

Explanation:

The distance from the centerline of the picture to its edge is half the width of the picture:

... (10 1/4)/2 = 5 1/8 . . . . feet

The distance from the centerline of the wall to its edge is half its width:

... (14 1/2)/2 = 7 1/4 . . . . feet

When the centerlline of the picture is aligned on the centerline of the wall, the distance from the edge of the picture to the edge of the wall is ...

... (7 1/4 ft) - (5 1/8 ft) = 2 1/8 ft

_____

In inches, this is (2 1/8 ft)×(12 in/ft) = 24 12/8 in = 25 1/2 in.

14 (1)/(2) - 10 (1)/(4) = \: 4 (1)/(4)

4 1/4 divided by 2 = 2 1/8

2 1/8 feet would be the distance from the edge of the wall to the picture.

Hope this helps!!
