If the graph of y = |x| is translated so that too. (1, 1) is moved to (4, 1) what is the equation of the new graph

Answer: y = |x-3|

The point (1,1) has been moved 3 spots to the right to get to (4,1). The entire equation of the V shaped curve will also move 3 spots to the right. So that's how we go from |x| to |x-3|. Note how plugging in x = 4 leads to y = |x-3| = |4-3| = |1| = 1
