Through agriculture the Miskitos complement their food requirements. According to the type of climate, soil and humidity, the crops they produce are from plants such as cassava, quequisque, sweet potatoes, yams, bananas, coconut, pijibay, breadfruit, rice, beans and corn. They collect seasonal fruits, wild honeys and with animals that hunt and fish complement a very rich and varied diet. Due to the abundant water the Miskito people do not require works for agriculture such as irrigation systems but their crops are adjusted to the environment.
