The constitution of the Confederate States of America closely resembled the U.S. Constitution. How was the Confederate constitution different?

It incorporated the Crittenden Compromise.
It called for federal funds to reimburse slave owners for unreturned fugitives.
It allowed the importing of new slaves from other countries.
It stressed the independence of each state and guaranteed the protection of slavery.

The constitution of the Confederates States of America D. stressed the independence of each state and guaranteed the protection of slavery.

These are the reasons they broke away from the Union on the first place and eventually fought for in the Civil War. The rest of the Constitution is basically the same as the United States constitution, resembling almost word by word.
