What is it meant by natural increase, and what does it have to do with the birthrate and the death rate?

Within the study of demography, the rate of natural increase (RNI) is classified as the crude birth rate minus the crude death rate.

Natural increase is the difference between the number of births and number of deaths during a year. As it is a natural increase it means there are more births then deaths in a year increasing the population.
