To add fractions, there are three simple steps :

⓵ Make sure the bottom numbers (the denominators) are the same!

1 ⅐ = 8/7

6 8
—— + —— ⇨ same denominator
7 7

⓶ Add the top numbers (the numerators), put that answer over the denominator.

6 + 8 = 14

14
——
7

⓷ Simplify the fraction (if needed).

14 ÷ 7 = 2

↳ 6 1 14
—— + 1 —— = —— = 2
7 7 7

There you go! I really hope this helped, if there’s anything just let me know! ☻
