Since he can paint four paintings in two hours we must find how many paintings he can create in one hour. So if we divide the numerator and denominator by two, we get that he can paint two paintings in one hour. His unit rate is 2:1.

4:2 divide by two to make the denominator 1

2:1 solution has 1 in the denominator

Hope this helped.

All we have to do here is divide 4 by 2

4 ÷ 2 = 2

Therefore, the artist can paint 2 paintings an hour making the unit rate, 2 paintings per hour.

Hope this helps
