Beowulf orders Wiglaf to go and take a gander at the treasure, and bring back some of it for him to see before he is dead. Wiglaf complies with Beowulf's last wish and goes down into the barrow, where he finds astounding heaps of fortune. So Wiglaf went down into the core of the barrow and brought out dishes and other fortune, as much as he could convey, to demonstrate his master. Beowulf said: 'I express gratitude toward God that I can give my kin these blessings of gold.
