PLEASE HELP!! Lily visits her family doctor because she experiences an upset stomach after drinking milk. The doctor tells her that this symptom is caused by a lack of the enzyme lactase. Lactase breaks down lactose, the sugar in milk which is made of several parts. What does lactose break down into?

monosaccharides
B.
amino acids

The answer is A. And here's why.

First the lactase must attach itself to the lactose molecule, upon doing that it hydrolyges it into glucose and galactose.
