Can some please explain this to me. Help with a c & d. It has me really confused. Why would it be 5^1 if each a would equal 1?

a) Any integer can be written as itself to the power of one, since a number to the power of one is just that number, not multiplied by anything.

c) The value for a can only be 1/3 (a fraction). We know this because of the exponent rule that states that when you multiply with exponents of the same base, you simply add the exponents. 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 3/3, or 1.

d) ³√5 (cube root 5) is the same as 5 to the power of the reciprocal, which is 5^(1/3) (5 to the power of 1 over 3)
