I think it depends purely on what kind of person you are. If you're a power-hungry person, obtaining political or educational knowledge puts you at an advancement to other people. Let's say you were running for president with plenty of knowledge but you wanted to use it for things most people wouldn't agree on; you could be damaging the nation with decisions. There are actually a lot of simple ways knowledge could screw someone over.
