I believe the answer is: go beyond the legal limits of the law
Most consumers generally desire that the companies where they do their transactions genuinely want to maintain ethical conduct and care about their general well being. Fulfilling such desire would also be beneficial for the companies since it would greatly increase consumers' loyalty.
