There’s a famous fable about the tortoise and the hare. Although the hare is faster, the tortoise wins the race. The fastest tortoise moves at .63 miles per hour. Convert the tortoise’s speed into meters per second. You must show me the math

Make use of the identities 1 mile = 1609 m and 1 hr = 3600 sec.

Then:

0.63 mi 1609 m 1 hour

---------------- * ------------------ * --------------- = 0.28 m/sec

1 hr 1 mile 3600 sec

Another way in which to do this problem follows: Use 60 mph = 88 ft/sec

Then

0.63 mi 88 ft/sec 1 meter

------------ * ---------------- * -------------- = 0.28 m/sec

1 hr 60 mph 3.281 ft
