Which ordered pair is a solution of the equation y=x-2?

Simply plug in the numbers. We'll start with the first one (3,1). Y = 1, and X = 3, so 1 = 3 - 2.

3 - 2 = 1, which makes the ordered pair (3,1) a solution to the equation.

For the next one, do the same thing, just plug in your options.

y = 4x

We will do (-4,-1) first. So plug those in to the equation y = -1 and x will = -4

-1 = 4*-4, which would be -1 = -16, which isn't a solution to the ordered pair. Let's try (-1,-4).

y = -4, x = -1

-4 = 4*-1, which would = -4. Which is the solution to our equation! So the answer would be (-1,-4).

For the last one, do the SAME thing again.

y = -7x + 2

Plug in (8,-54) into the equation

-54 = -7*8 + 2

-7 * 8 = -56

-56 + 2 = -54

Which would make the solution (8,-54) the solution to the equation.
