Spain had the most negative effect on Oklahoma during the period of exploration due to apart from the evangelization motive of the Spanish friars, the Spanish explorers saw this territory as land for economic benefits due to its natural resources and raw materials. The Spanish wanted to exploit those resources and the Native American Indians that already lived there. The Spaniards explored the Oklahoma territory from the 1500s until the 1600s. The French came later in the 1600s and were in Oklahoma for another 100 years. The positive impact should have been if these explorers had shown some respect for the Native American Indians' values, traditions, and beliefs. But it was the contrary, the explorers, and later, the American colonists were only interested in the land to make a profit. That is why they had many conflicts and battles.
