To get these answers you can count out the number of spaces between the two points. You should count out 11 spaces from A to C. There is a much more efficient way which involves subtraction. Subtract -6-5 to get -11 and then apply the absolute value to get +11 or just 11. You can subtract in the opposite order to get 5 - (-6) = 5+6 = 11 and we end up with the same answer. It turns out that |x-y| = |y-x| no matter what x and y values you pick. This method can be applied to find the length of BD as well. Note how |7-4| = |3| = 3 and |4-7| = |-3| = 3
