So the pythagorean theorem is
leg^2+leg^2=hypotenuse^2 , or often known as a² + b² = c². Since we see that 8 and 6 are our legs and c is our hypotenuse, plug them into the equation to solve for c:

8² + 6² = c²

Firstly, solve the exponents:

64 + 36 = c²

Next, solve the addition:

100 = c²

Lastly, square root both sides and your answer will be:

10 = c
