first start with subtracting ten on each side and subtracting 7 on each side, then add 4j to the -7j to get 3j/3 = -27/3 which equals j=9 ; answer is j=9

add the numbers 7 + 10
17 - 7j = -10 - 4j
subtract 17 from both sides
-7j = -27 - 4j
add 4j to both sides
-3j = -27
divide both sides by -3
j = 9
