The head of a phospholipid is hydrophilic and the tail is hydrophobic. Hydrophilic means that the head of the phospholipid like water. The hydrophobic tail does not like water, so the tails connect and the heads form a barrier around the hydrophobic tails which is turn makes a cell membrane. It has been a while since i was on this unit sooooo. I might be wrong.
