The axial design of the New Kingdom temples created a processional path from the outside to the inner sanctuary where only priests and kings were allowed.
The ancient people believed that temples were the homes of the gods and goddesses. So each temple was dedicated to a god or goddess and he or she was worshiped by the temple priests and the rulers only.
