C. perform compounding

Unlike retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacies are usually assigned by the patient’s insurance company. Specialty pharmacies take the prescriptions from the patient’s physicians and may or may not perform compounding to prepare the medications. Specialty pharmacies can also secure authorizations if required. Specialty pharmacies most often exclusively mail order and ships the medication to the patient or the doctor’s office fro administration.
