The charge of 1 proton is +1 and the charge of one electron is -1
So you multiply by how many you have and add by the number of protons by the number of electron because you want to find the total charge and even if one electron has a negative charge you still need to include it
10(+1)+8(-1)
10-8
+2

Hi,
The answer is +2, since there are 10 positive charges (protons) and 8 negative charges (electrons), so 10(+1) + 8(-1)= +10 -8= +2.

If my answer was not clear enough or you’d like further explanation please let me know.
Hope this helps!
