How are cancer cells generated?

All of us have cells that can potentially provoke cancer. Cancer cells are generated when one of the cells in our bodies becomes damaged and starts to multiply/divide uncontrollably. Usually, when a damaged cell splits, it's new cells don't have the right amount of chromosomes causing some cells to have more genes than others. The damaged cells don't have the right instructions anymore which is why they multiply/divide out of control. I'm not an expert but I hope this helps!
