The Title IX of the 1972 Education Act is an anti-discrimination and civil rights law, which is best known for its greatest effect on university athletic programs and high school students. It is a stand-alone civil rights statute that covered only sex, where no person shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federally-funded assistance.
