Helping Verbs almost always go right before an action verb.
Verbs refer to description of an occurrence, action by forming the main part of the predicate in a sentence. Helping or auxiliary verbs are placed before the action verbs. There are two types of helping verbs; primary and model helping verbs.
Primary helping verbs involve:
- Is, am, are, be, was, were, been, being
 - Does, did and, do
 - Has, have and, had
 
Model helping verbs include
- could, can
 - would, will
 - should, shall
 - must
 - might, may.
 
Examples are:
1. He is watching television.
(In this sentence, is helping verb and watching is an action verb.)
2. I might go shopping.
(In the above sentence, might is the helping verb and go is the action verb.)
