Properties of Matter
Matter is defined as anything that has mass and takes up space. The mass of an object is the amount of matter that the object contains.
A substance is matter that has a uniform and definite composition.
*contains only one kind of matter
ex. Water, oxygen. Sucrose
All samples of substances have the same physical properties.
*a quality or condition of a substance that can be observed or measured without changing the substance’s composition
ex. Color, solubility, odor, density, mp
