Hello There!

As for this question, we would set up what is called an equation, which we will be using in order to determine the answer.

Since the question states for the difference between six times a number and 7 is -49 we would set this up as:

6x - 7 = -49

Add 7 on both sides, which means we would:

-7 + 7 = 0

-49 + 7 = -42

We are now left with 6x = -42

You will now be dividing six in both sides.

-42/6 = -7

Therefore the number is -7
