If the equation is written correctly,
(-3)/(3) would become -1.

So the equation turns into: 4x-1=7.

Add 1 to both sides of the equation.

4x-1+1=7+1

4x=8

Divide both sides by 4 for x.

(4x)/(4)=
(8)/(4)

x=2
