Why was slavery so common in the south

Hi,

Answer: The south relied mostly on crops and planting.

My work: Slavery was common in the south, because the south had a lot of plantation and somewhere along the way a industrial planter brought slaves to the south which started slavery in the south.

They were mainly agriculture based and slavery was free labor.
